Emergency inspection control of all catering facilities
The Minister of the Interior, Ivica Dačić, ordered the inspection of all catering premises in Serbia.
Assistant Minister of the Interior and Head of the Sector for Emergency Situations, Predrag Marić, announced that an order on emergency inspection control of all catering premises in Serbia would be sent to all organizational units today, starting tomorrow. In a statement for the Beta agency, Marić explained that all 250 inspectors would be involved in the implementation of that control. He stated that this was an emergency control ordered by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić after the fire in the discotheque "Kontrast" in Novi Sad, in which six people died.
- Emergency control of all catering facilities in Serbia will be carried out in a short period of time, and all catering premises which do not meet the standard will be closed, said the Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić.
In the explanation of such a decision, Minister Dačić stated that it was brought due to frequent incidents, the last of which was a fire in the Novi Sad discotheque "Kontrast", in which six young people died.
The Minister reminded that the persons in the discotheque in Novi Sad died from smoke and not from fire, and especially that circumstance provoked him to order an emergency control of the facilities where a large number of people gather.
In the case of the discotheque "Kontrast", there is a possibility that the cause of the fire was a malfunction in the installations, although the investigation will show what exactly happened. However, the negative consequences of the fire in the object where were a large number of people could have been reduced if other fire protection measures had been complied with.
Dačić insisted that there would be no possibility of intervention which would save the owners of the facilities from penalties if they did not respect the norms prescribed by the Law.
If we determine that there is any form of corruption, everyone will be arrested, said Minister Ivica Dačić.
