Chimney maintenance
The consequence of not maintaining the chimney is the accumulation of combustion products on its walls. Combustion of solid fuels creates deposits which are dangerous for people and the environment since their deposition:
- increases the risk of fire
- increases the emission of harmful gases
- reduces the effect of keeping up fire
In order to properly perform its tasks, the chimney needs care. Depending on the condition of your chimney, we apply three ways of chimney maintenance.
- Regular chimney cleaning, which we perform mechanically, with a steel brush on the twisted wire extension rod, while removing the accumulated soot deposits from the chimney’s walls.
Cleaning can be done through the chimney door or from the roof. Regular chimney maintenance intervals are conditioned by many factors, but it is recommended to perform at least one cleaning per year.
- Chimney incineration is necessary when certain quantities of resin remain on the chimney walls after mechanical cleaning. This process must be constantly monitored and can be very risky if not performed by a professional chimney sweeper.
- Chimney unclogging is performed in case of a physical barrier in the chimney which must be removed. Pieces of construction material (brick, tile, plaster), natural material (leaves and branches caused by the wind) or smaller animals nests (bees, hornets, birds) can be found in the chimney. Chimney unclogging sometimes requires serious chimney sweeper’s intervention.
